Anna T. St. James

Anna T. St. James, 94, formerly of Side by Side assisted-living facility, died yesterday morning at Providence Care Center in Lenox, where she had resided for the past week.

Born in Pittsfield on Dec. 10, 1910, daughter of Joseph and Anna Dillon St. James, she was a 1928 graduate of St. Joseph's High School and a 1929 graduate of the former Berkshire Business College.

Miss St. James was employed by GE as a secretary in the transformer and ordnance departments, retiring in 1976 after 33 years of service. She had first worked for the former Rice & Kelly Furniture Co. and as an assistant in the office of Frederick Chant, CPA.

She was a communicant of St. Charles' Church, where she was a Eucharistic minister, a member of the Rosary Society and active in the Legion of Mary, visiting and planning programs for the homebound and local nursing homes.

She was a supporter of BCARC in its work and cared for those with special needs.

She leaves several nieces and nephews, including her caregiver, Lauretta M. Guiltinan of Pittsfield.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Anna T. St. James died in Lenox on Monday, Oct. 17. She leaves two other nieces, Sister Patrick Lauretta Guiltinan, CSJ, and Sheila St. James Holt, two nephews, William L. Guiltinan and William A. St. James, and many grand- and great-grandnieces and -nephews.

The funeral will be Thursday, Oct. 20, at 10:15 from DWYER FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Joseph's Church celebrated by the Rev. Michael Shershanovich, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be tomorrow, Oct. 19, from 2 to 5. Anna was predeceased by two sisters, Lauretta M. St. James Guiltinan and Mildred Irene St. James, and nine brothers, Joseph, Robert, Raymond, Ignatius, Edward, Clement, William, Ronald and Gerald.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Retirement Fund of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet or to BCARC or to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home. She lived very simply, taking great pleasure in the company of her family and many friends.
