Edith G. Tinson

Edith G. Tinson, 89, a former resident of 620 Laurel St., died Thursday evening at Laurel Lake Center for Health and Rehabilitation in Lee, where she had lived since October 2003.

Born in New York City on July 13, 1916, daughter of William and Maude Beatrice Cooke Tinson, she attended schools there.

Miss Tinson was employed as a secretary at New York University for many years, retiring in 1978. Before that, she worked for a dental company in the Gold District of Manhattan.

Following her retirement, she moved to Sandisfield. She later moved to Lenox, where she lived for more than 20 years.

She also enjoyed reading and writing stories.

She leaves a niece, Barbara Alrich Wichura of Chicago.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Graveside Funeral Service for Edith G. Tinson will be conducted Saturday, Oct. 22, 2005, at 10 at Mountain View Cemetery in Lenox by the Rev. Stephen J.C. Williams of Pittsfield.

Ms. Tinson also is survived by her loving niece's husband, Michael Wichura, and her beloved grandnephews, Christopher and Garth Wichura, all of Chicago. Her sister, Maude V. Tinson, with whom she made her home for much of her life, died March 18, 2003.

She was also predeceased by another sister, Beatrice M. Alrich. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Library at Laurel Lake Center in care of ROCHE FUNERAL HOME, 120 Main St., Lenox, MA 01240.
