Mary Angela Mahoney

Mary Angela Mahoney, 91, of 1000 North St., former longtime resident of 53 Daniels Ave., died Wednesday at Mount Greylock Extended Care Facility.

Born in Adams on Dec. 13, 1913, daughter of Dominic and Aurelia Celence Catelotti, she was educated there.

Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Mahoney held various jobs throughout her life, including at the Woolen Mills in Adams, General Electric, the former England Brothers department store, and the former Pittsfield General Hospital.

She was also a matron at the former South Junior High School in Pittsfield.

She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church, and a member of the Ralph Froio Senior Center.

She enjoyed crocheting articles for various craft fairs and bazaars. She also enjoyed writing short stories and poems, and storytelling. She was proud to be part Native American.

Her husband of 23 years, James P. Mahoney, died March 28, 1963.

She leaves four daughters, May Dondey, Margaret Bush, Patricia Coulter and Pamela Parsons, all of Pittsfield; three sons, William Mahoney, Barton Mahoney and Michael Mahoney, all of Pittsfield; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Another son, James P. Mahoney Jr., died Oct. 12, 1953.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Mary Angela Catelotti Mahoney, 91, who died Oct. 5, 2005, will be celebrated Tuesday at 9 with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. Joseph's Church, celebrated by the Rev. Max V. Kishe.

Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the American Cancer Society in care of the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME.

She also leaves her sons-in-law, Bernard Dondey, Roy Bush and Thomas Coulter, and her daughters-in-law, Susan Mahoney and Sherry Mahoney.
