Robert Adolph Choiniere, 86, of 14 Dodge Ave. died Sunday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on June 7, 1919, son of Henry and Rose Aubin Choiniere, he was a 1937 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church.
A veteran of World War II, he served for five years in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Choiniere was a laboratory technician with GE for 33 years, retiring in 1980. In earlier years he was a counselor at Camp Russell.
He was a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners Clubs, and the GE Athletic Association.
He played basketball at the Boys' Club, and enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors.
He and his wife, the former Madeline Keegan, would've celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary on Nov. 28.
Besides his wife, he leaves four sons, Gary L. Choiniere of Pittsfield, Robert E. Choiniere of North Port, Fla., Thomas Choiniere of Falcon, Mo., and Paul Choiniere of Livermore, Calif.; two daughters, Anne Cook of Pittsfield and Jean McMahon of Lee; a sister, Emily Porter of Pittsfield; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Robert Adolph Choiniere will be held Thursday, Oct. 6, at 10:15 a.m., from DERY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at Sacred Heart Church, celebrated by the Rev. James K. Joyce, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday, from 4 to 7, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Choiniere may be made to Sacred Heart Church, HospiceCare in The Berkshires, or A.L.S. (Lou Gehrig's Disease) in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
