Jack V. MacHaffie, 91, formerly of 61 Carolina St., died Tuesday at Springside of Pittsfield, where he had been a resident since March 2004.
Born Aug. 27, 1914, in Pittsfield, the son of Earl and Mae Sniffer MacHaffie, he had attended Pittsfield Public Schools until the 11th grade.
Mr. MacHaffie was a self-employed contractor, retiring in 1983.
He enjoyed woodworking and gardening.
His wife, the former Viola Kalinowsky, whom he married Aug. 8, 1936, died Aug., 3, 1980.
He leaves three daughters, Carol E. Brooks and Gene S. Johnston, both of Pittsfield, and Jaclyn B. LaRochelle of Chicopee; a sister, Carolyn Graziola of Pittsfield; a brother, William MacHaffie of Pittsfield; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Ann H. Bryda, predeceased him in 1995, and a granddaughter, Kristen Brooks, in 1981.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Mr. Jack V. MacHaffie will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME with the Rev. Robyn Burns of the First Church of Christ, Congregational, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Donations in his memory may be made to the American Heart Association in care of the funeral home, 220 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
Mr. MacHaffie loved his family and grandchildren.
