Marcella Bastion Ferry Flynn

Marcella Bastion Ferry Flynn, 98, died Monday at her home in Berkshire Place, on 89 South St.
Born in Pittsfield on Feb. 24, 1907, daughter of former State Representative John J. and Cecilia Rogers Bastion, she was a 1925 graduate of St. Joseph's High School.
She also attended the former Pittsfield Secretarial School.
She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church, and a member of its Rosary Sodality.
Most recently, Mrs. Flynn worked in meter enforcement for the Pittsfield Police. She was a shipping clerk in the power transformer department of GE for 36 years until her retirement in 1962. She then worked at City Hall under former mayors Robert B. Dillon and Remo delGallo.
She served as organist in many area churches, including St. Joseph's Church and First Church of Christ, both of Pittsfield, First Congregational Church in Lee, and St. Agnes Church in Dalton.
She also taught piano in her home.
She was a member of the American Guild of Organists. She served as chairman of March of Dimes fund drives, was chairman of the Pittsfield Community Concerts, and was a member of the Berkshire County Deputy Sheriffs' Association. She enjoyed classical music, pipe organ music and reading.
Her husband, Andrew J. Flynn, Jr., whom she married Oct. 1, 1955, died Nov. 21, 1983. Her previous husband, former major league pitcher John F. (Jack) Ferry, Sr., died in 1954.
She leaves a long-time friend and caregiver, Robert Bardwell of Pittsfield.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Marcella Jeanette Flynn, 98, who died Monday, will be on Friday at 9 a.m., with a Liturgy of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. Joseph's Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, donations in her memory may be made to St. Joseph's Church Improvement Fund in care of the DEVANNY CONDRON FUNERAL HOME, 40 Maplewood Ave., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
