Mary "Bobbie" Bossidy, 89, of 92 Livingston Ave. died Thursday at Mount Greylock Extended Care Facility after a short illness.
Born in Pittsfield on Nov. 6, 1915, daughter of Fritz H. and Anna Tymczuk Yarmey, she was a 1933 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
Mrs. Bossidy ran the family business, the former Bossidy's Shoe Store, from 1966 until 1973. Before that, she was a buyer for the former England Brothers' department store from 1949 until 1965.
She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and a member of its Rosary Sodality, and enjoyed traveling, playing bridge, golfing, cooking and hosting dinner parties.
Her husband, Gerald L. Bossidy, whom she married June 1, 1939, in St. Charles' Church, died Aug. 30, 1971.
She leaves a son, Bartholomew G. Bossidy of Centerville; two brothers, John Yarmey of Pittsfield and Steven Yarmey of Newcastle, Maine; a sister, Dorothy Easley of Pittsfield; two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Mary "Bobbie" Bossidy, longtime buyer and store owner in Pittsfield, died Thursday, Sept. 22. The funeral will be Monday, Sept. 26, at 10 from DWYER FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at Sacred Heart Church celebrated by the Rev. Daniel B. Brunton.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be tomorrow, Sept. 25, from 2 to 5 at the funeral home. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.
