Allen Rex Henry

Allen Rex Henry, 54, of 921 North St., and 1003 Lauren Place, Nokesville, Va., died Friday morning at his home in Pittsfield.
Born in Camden, N.J., on May 13, 1951, son of Elizabeth Muir Henry and the late Samuel Henry, he was a 1969 graduate of Audubon High School in Audubon, N.J. He earned a master's degree in computer science in 1987 from Temple University.
At the time of his death, Mr. Henry was employed with Exxon Mobile Corporation as a computer systems specialist. He began working there in 1972 and had traveled around the globe, designing and maintaining supply and distribution systems for the oil industry.
He worked in Valley Forge, Pa., for over 15 years and later in Virginia.
A VW enthusiast, he received several national awards for his restoration work on several campers and automobiles that appeared in the National VW Magazine. An avid runner, he was co-founder and president of Burke Lake Runners in Fairfax (Va.) from 2002 until the present. He ran in 26-mile marathons in the metro DC area and in Virginia.
He enjoyed skiing, camping, antiquing, trout fishing, and traveling in Europe, especially Austria, Germany and Amsterdam. He was also an avid dog lover.
Besides his mother, of Pittsfield, he leaves his sister and caregiver, Patricia Manion of Pittsfield, with whom he lived, and his twin brother, George M. Henry of Barrington, N.J.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Allen Rex Henry, age 54, who died Sept. 23, 2005, will be Tuesday at 9:15 from the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Charles Church, celebrated by the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Lee. Calling hours will be Monday from 5 to 7 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires or St. Charles Church in care of the funeral home.
He is also survived by his nephews, George and Steven Henry and Jeffrey Manion; nieces, Beth Manion, Jeanne LaCroix and Kim and Katie Henry; great nephews and nieces, Cameron and Hannah LaCroix and Avery Manion; his brother-in-law, David P. Manion, three cousins, an aunt and uncle, and his devoted dog, Ginger. His loving dog, Sheena, predeceased him. Allen will be remembered as always putting others before him and his infectious sense of humor.
