Nona Marie Black, 60, of 417 North St. died early Wednesday morning at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in San Francisco, Calif., on Sept. 25, 1944, daughter of Roy M. and Ruby Harris Ables, she was a graduate of schools there.
A career woman in the Army, Ms. Black enlisted in Alameda, Calif., on Aug. 23, 1966 and served as a WAC stationed at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. She was a marksman with rifle M-16 and with shotgun.
Her tours of duty took her to Panama. She earned the rank of staff sergeant in May 1977 and was honorably discharged at Fort Carson, Colo., on Dec. 19, 1977.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Nona M. Black, who died Wednesday, Sept. 14, will be private.
Burial will be in Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Agawam. DERY FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements.
