Donald M. Webber

Donald M. Webber, 88, formerly of 301 East Road, died yesterday at Riverdale Gardens Nursing Home in West Springfield.

He had resided in West Springfield at 81 Harwich Road since April 1998.

Born in Cheshire on Dec. 6, 1916, son of Hartwell K. and Alta Maynard Webber, he attended Pittsfield schools.

Mr. Webber was employed by GE in the power transformer division as a test man, retiring in 1980 after 35 years of service.

He also worked as a fireman first class for Byron Weston Co. in Dalton for 10 years.

He was a member of Richmond Congregational Church.

He and his wife, the former Carolyn Perkins, were married on July 15, 1945, in Berlin, N.Y.

Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, David D. Webber of Pittsfield and Jeffrey A. Webber of West Springfield; five grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Donald M. Webber will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield by the Rev. Irene Jones, pastor of Richmond Congregational Church.

Following cremation, burial will be in Main Street Cemetery in Dalton at a later date. Calling hours will be Saturday from 1 to 2 at the funeral home.

Among survivors are his grandchildren, Daniel, Jessica, James, Lily and Carolyn, and his daughter-in-law, Joanne. If friends desire, donations are suggested to the Richmond/West Stockbridge Community Health Association in care of the funeral home, 220 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.

Mr. Webber was an animal lover and a do-it-yourselfer.
