Bessie Eva Baker, 94, of 265 Main St., Craneville Place of Dalton, died there Saturday.
Born in Greenfield on Sept. 3, 1910, daughter of Max B. and Mary Rubin Baker, graduated with honors from Turners Falls High School.
Ms. Baker owned and operated her own beauty salon for many years in Turners Falls.
A classical and jazz pianist, she taught piano for many years. As a young woman, she played in theaters, accompanying silent movies.
She was accomplished on the violin as well.
At Laurel Lake Assisted Living Facility, where she formerly resided, she entertained on the piano.
She was formerly married to Henry Miller.
She leaves two daughters, Eunice Miller-Feinberg of Lenox and Shirley Miller-Silverton of Longmeadow; six grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Bessie Eva Baker, 94, who died Aug. 27, 2005, will be tomorrow, Aug. 30, at 11 at Hevreh of South Berkshire, with Rabbi Deborah Zecher, spiritual leader, officiating.
Burial will be in Ahavath Sholom Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In keeping with Jewish tradition, the omission of flowers is requested. Donations in her memory may be made to Hevreh of South Berkshire or the Jewish Federation of the Berkshires in care of DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME, with whom arrangements have been entrusted.
She is also survived by her sons-in-law, Carl Feinberg and S. Robert Silverton.
