Carmella E. DelGallo

Carmella E. DelGallo, 85, formerly of 632 Crane Ave., died Sunday at Berkshire Medical Center after a short illness. She had resided at Mount Greylock Extended Care Facility since April 2002.
She and her late husband, Joseph T. DelGallo Sr., owned and operated Fenn & Fourth Cafe for 30 years.
Born in Pittsfield on May 14, 1920, daughter of Francesco and Elizabeth Alessandro Puia, she attended Pittsfield schools.
Mrs. DelGallo also was employed by the former Eaton Paper Co. for several years. She retired from the cafe in 1977.
She was a communicant of Mount Carmel Church and a member of its Ladies' Guild.
She also was a member of Sons of Italy Itam Lodge 564.
She and her husband were married Aug. 23, 1947. He died Aug. 6, 1993.
She leaves a son, Joseph T. DelGallo Jr. of Pittsfield; a daughter, Maryann T. Sherman of Pittsfield; three sisters, Catherine L. Salzarulo, Rose E. Talarico and Mary P. Ballato, all of Pittsfield; four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Carmella E. DelGallo will be Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2005 at 9 from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield, Mass. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church by the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker, CSS, pastor.
Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Pittsfield. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Tuesday, Aug. 23, from 4 to 7. Members of the Mount Carmel Ladies' Guild will meet tonight at 6 at the funeral home for a Vigil Service. Members of the Sons of Italy Itam Lodge 564 will meet at 5:30 at the funeral home for a Ritual Service.
Beloved mother of Joseph T. DelGallo Jr. and his wife, Sandra, and Maryann T. Sherman. Loving grandmother to Bryon and Kevin Sherman, and Michael and Daniel DelGallo. Loving great-grandmother to Alex, Colby, Sydnie, Sam, Molly and Parker. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and listening to music.
She was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Puia Sr. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home.
