Marilyn Myrtle Stanley, 98, of 16-66th Bell Boulevard, Bayside, N.Y., formerly of Pittsfield and North Adams, died Monday at Flushing Meadow Care Center in Flushing, N.Y., where she had resided since March 18, 2003.
Born in East Haddam, Conn., on Jan. 24, 1907, daughter of Llewelyn and Lizzie Sipples Armstrong, she was educated in schools there.
Mrs. Stanley was a homemaker.
She worked at a cotton factory in Connecticut in her younger years.
She was a former communicant of St. Mark's Church and enjoyed traveling and dining out.
Her husband, Michael Stanley, died Oct. 26, 1980.
She leaves a sister, Zoa Halpin of Granville, and her longtime companion, Samuel J. Sforza, with whom she resided.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Marilyn Myrtle Stanley, who died Monday, Aug. 15, 2005, in Bayside, N.Y., will be Friday, Aug. 19, at 9:15 from DERY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Mark's Church celebrated by the Rev. John C. Salatino, pastor.
Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
Mrs. Stanley is survived by several nieces, including Geraldine Mitchell, Betty Kulas and Bina Armstrong, as well as by nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by a brother and three sisters.
