Angela Rappoccio

August 15, 2005

Angela Rappoccio, 86, of Albany, N.Y., died Monday, Aug. 15, at Albany Medical Center.

She was the mother of Caterina Gallo of Lenox.

Born in Montemurro, province of Potenza, Italy, on May 3, 1919, daughter of Angelo and Caterina DeLorenzo Santalucia, she was educated there.

She and her husband opened Sam's Italian-American Restaurant in Albany in 1971 and operated it for many years. Her children continue to run the restaurant.

She was a longtime communicant of St. James' Church in Albany and a spiritual follower of Santo Padre Pio of Petralcino.

An avid watcher of EWTN, she also enjoyed gardening and sewing.

Her husband, Salvatore "Sam" Rappoccio, is deceased.

Besides her daughter, she leaves another daughter, Carmela Daubney of Glenmont, N.Y.; a son, Paul Rappoccio of Glenmont, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Angela Rappoccio will be Thursday, Aug. 18, 2005, at 11:15 at the DURANT FUNERAL HOME, 17 Languish Place, Glenmont. Thence to St. James' Church, 391 Delaware Ave., Albany, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon.

Entombment will be in St. Agnes' Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home today, Wednesday, from 3 to 8. Angela's wishes are for memorial contributions to be made to St. James' Church or Mass intentions or EWTN Global Catholic Network, 5817 Old Leeds, Irondale, AL 35210-2164 or Mass intentions to St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Adams Place, Delmar, NY 12054.

She leaves a son-in-law, Tony Gallo, owner of Prime Steakhouse in Lenox, and daughter-in-law, Arlene. She was the proud Nonni to 10 grandchildren, Gina (Richard) Garrison, Tina Tartaglia, Gennaro and Maria Gallo and Salvatore (Roberta), Peter, Paul, Angela, Joseph and Deanna Rappoccio, two great-grandchildren, Julia Joann and Leah Angela Garrison, and her longtime friends, Severina Papa and Ronald Higgs.

She was predeceased by siblings Leonarda Padula, Rosa Friguglietto, Michael Santalucia and Felicia Angerami.
