Delbert Wilson Aron

Delbert Wilson Aron, 81, of 65 Columbus Ave. died Thursday morning at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Orange on Aug. 28, 1923, son of Lowell G. and Irma King Aron, he moved to Keene, N.H., at age 5 and was a 1941 graduate of Keene High School.
He attended the former Northampton Commercial College for a year before entering the service and graduated from Sparton School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, Okla., in 1947.
An Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, he served from 1942 to 1945 in Saipan.
Mr. Aron retired in the 1980s from the former Rochester Paper Co. in Adams. He was first employed by Ashuelot Bank in Keene for nine years, then was a corporate accountant for various paper companies in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
He volunteered with Elder Services of Berkshire County, serving as an ombudsman, and was a member of the Town Players of Pittsfield.
He enjoyed reading, dowsing, fishing and gardening.
He and his wife, the former Virginia Shields, celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary May 29.
Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Steven D. Aron of Long Island City, N.Y.; a daughter, Leslie Aron Shields of Walden, Vt.; a brother, Edwin J. Aron of Swanzey, N.H.; four grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Delbert Wilson "Del" Aron, who died Thursday, Aug. 11, will be private and at the convenience of the family.
There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Elder Services of Berkshire County in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201, which is in charge of arrangements.
