Mary F. Curtin

Mary F. Curtin, 92, of 235 Walker St., Kimball Farms Nursing Center, died there yesterday.

She was a former resident of Main Street, Tyringham,

Born in New York City on May 1, 1913, daughter of Leroy P. and Mary Coakley Fisher, she was a 1931 graduate of Julia Richman High School and a 1932 graduate of Katharine Gibbs School in New York.

Mrs. Curtin was employed by Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. in New York for many years.

In 1939, she and her husband, Carl L. Curtin, bought the Tyringham General Store. He was appointed postmaster and remained in that position until his death in 1967. After his death, she was appointed postmaster and managed the store until retiring in 1975.

She moved to Lenox in 1983 and was a communicant of St. Ann's Church. Before that, she was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Lee and a member of its choir.

She was a member of the Berkshire Garden Center, the Tuesday Club of Stockbridge and the Tyringham Hop Brook Club, a former member of the Lee Visiting Nurse Association and a trustee of the Tyringham Library. She enjoyed traveling.

She and her husband were married in 1935.

She leaves two sons, Carl L. Curtin of Tyringham and Eugene T. Curtin of Mount Airy, Md.; five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Mary F. Curtin will be Thursday at 9:15 from KELLY FUNERAL HOME in Lee, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Ann's Church in Lenox. Burial will follow in Tyringham Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 5 to 7 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238.

Besides her sons, she leaves her daughters-in-law, Christine Menin Curtin of Tyringham and Nancy Smith Curtin of Mount Airy, Md.; grandchildren, Christine Barry and her husband, Christopher, and C. Larry Curtin, all of Lee, Kevin Curtin and his wife, Cynthia, and Scott Curtin of Mount Airy, and Gene Curtin of Lake Tahoe, Calif.; three great-grandchildren, Quinn Alma and Paige Curtin Barry of Lee and Hunter Kevin Curtin of Mount Airy.

She was predeceased by a brother, Eugene Fisher.
