Harry Ingham

Harry Ingham, 86, of 86 Allengate Ave. died yesterday morning at Berkshire Medical Center following a long illness.
He had resided at Sugar Hill in Dalton for the past year and a half.
Born in Fall River on Dec. 12, 1918, son of Harry and Bertha Eastwood Ingham, he graduated from B.M.C. Durfee High School in 1936.
He also attended Berkshire Community College.
During World War II, he served in the Army 16th General Hospital in England, France and Belgium.
Mr. Ingham was employed by the United States government at the Springfield Armory prior to and after World War II. In 1948, he transferred to the Veterans Administration Hospital in Lees, and in 1963 to the Naval Procurement Office at GE in Pittsfield as a contract administrator. He retired in 1975, and did volunteer work for Elder Services and RSVP.
He was a member of the GE Athletic Association and was secretary of the local chapter of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
He enjoyed golfing and participated in bowling and pitch leagues.
He leaves his wife, the former Helen Jamieson of Sugar Hill; a son, Kevin J. Ingham of Pittsfield; a brother, J. Milton Ingham of North Kingston, R.I., and a sister, Alice M. Johnston of Somerset.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Harry Ingham, who died Thursday, Aug. 11, will be Saturday, Aug. 13, at 10 at the DERY FUNERAL HOME with the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor of St. Charles Church, officiating.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be today, Friday, from 4 to 6 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires or to Sugar Hill Activities Department, both in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield.
