Steven D. "Z" Zink

Steven D. "Z" Zink, 52, of 140 High St. died yesterday morning at home.
Born in Pittsfield on Oct. 31, 1952, son of Norman "Tiny" Zink of Dalton and the late Katherine J. Benham Zink, he attended Wahconah Regional High School.
At the time of his death, Mr. Zink was a bartender at Jacob's Restaurant, where he had worked for 10 years, and had been an entertainer. Prior to this, he had worked for Moody Oil Co. as an oil technician and at Betnr Personal Storage.
An avid Red Sox fan, he was an assistant baseball coach with the Babe Ruth League.
Besides his father, he leaves three brothers, Richard Zink of Pittsfield and David Zink and William Zink, both of Dalton; a sister, Laura Zink of Margate, Fla., and his life partner of 12 years, Susan Bachli of Dalton.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Steven D. "Z" Zink, an avid Red Sox fan who always said, "He'd die a happy man if the Red Sox won the World Series," died Thursday morning, July 28. A celebration of "Z's" life will be held Saturday, July 30, at 9:30 at the First Congregational Church, 514 Main St., Dalton, with the Rev. Robert R. Kyte, pastor, and the Rev. Christopher A. Malatesta, pastor of St. Agnes' Church, as co-celebrants.
Burial will follow in Ashuelot Cemetery. At Steven's request, there will be no calling hours. After the committal service at the cemetery, the family and friends would like to welcome all to the Dalton American Legion. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, 890 East Main St., Dalton.
"Z," who enjoyed life to the fullest, having fun with his family and friends, also leaves his sisters-in-law, Karen Zink and Melissa Zink, as well as many aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
