Born in Pittsfield on Nov. 25, 1930, son of Joseph DeAngelis Sr. and Celia Pignone DeAngelis, he attended schools in Pittsfield and was a 1951 graduate of Subiaco Academy in Little Rock, Ark., where he earned All-State honors in football, basketball and baseball.

He enjoyed house building, playing golf and bowling.

He was a communicant of All Souls' Church.

He and his wife, the former Rita D. Castagna, were married Feb. 9, 1952, at Mount Carmel Church.
