Jeff Michael Laraway, 46, of Melbourne, Fla., formerly of Lenox, died Tuesday at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Fla., while awaiting a liver transplant.
Born in Pittsfield on Nov. 8, 1958, son of Richard "Duke" and Gwen Crosier Laraway, he was a 1977 graduate of Lenox Memorial High School and attended Berkshire Community College.
He moved to Florida in 1986.
Mr. Laraway was the owner of Get Tanked acquarium maintenance.
Also known as "Chef Jeff," he had a passion for cooking and enjoyed fishing, golfing and grilling.
He and his wife, the former Karen Polidoro Elmasian, were married Aug. 25, 1984.
Besides his wife and parents, of Pittsfield, he leaves two brothers, Richard Laraway of Rochester, N.Y., and Mark W. Laraway of city unknownOhio; two sisters, Rosemary Larkin of Richmond and Cheryl Laraway of Daytona, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Shannan DeBord of Melbourne; three stepsons, Justin "Chunk" Elmasian and Joshua Elmasian, both of Jacksonville, Fla., and Ryan Elmasian of Melbourne, and five step-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Jeff M. Laraway will be conducted today, July 9, 2005, at 3 at SOUTH BREVARD FUNERAL HOME, 1001 South Hickory St., Melbourne, Fla. All who met him will remember him for his giving spirit and oversized sense of humor.
He was a loving grandfather to Sierra, Sophia and Justin Elmasian, and Deja and Jayden DeBord, and a special uncle to his nieces and nephews, Christopher and Jennifer Laraway, Jillian and Katherine Larkin, Frank Jr., Jame, Tarryn and Nicholas LeClair.
