Stanley Twarog

Stanley Twarog, 80, of 32 South Carolina Ave. died Thursday at home.
Born in New York Mills, N.Y., on May 8, 1925, son of Stanley and Anna Warchalowski Twarog, he was a 1934 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
A Marine Corps veteran of World War II, he received the Purple Heart.
Mr. Twarog was employed by GE as a winder in the power transformer division, retiring in 1985 with 38 years of service. Also a handyman, he did landscaping and painting, and mowed lawns.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners' clubs, and played on two bowling leagues.
He enjoyed playing keno and was involved with the Marine Corps league.
His wife, the former Janice E. Durkee, whom he married July 18, 1943, died Oct. 18, 1990.
He leaves a son, Wayne A. Twarog of Pittsfield; two daughters, Wendy A. Wood Huskey of Shelby, N.C., and Tracey L. Twarog of Pittsfield; a brother, Eugene Twarog of Castleton, N.Y.; a sister, Evelyn Contenta of Simsbury, Conn.; four grandchildren, and a great-grandson.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Stanley Twarog, 80, who died July 7, 2005, will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. at DERY FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. William D. Furey. Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery.
Calling hours will be tomorrow, July 11, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St.
He will be lovingly missed by his grandchildren, Ryan and Erica Wood, Alicia Twarog and Brittany Kern; his great-grandson, Bryant Avila, and his beloved former son-in-law, Thomas C. Wood, and son-in-law, Bobby Huskey.
