Claire I. Pignone, 76, of 8 Grove St. died Friday at Albany (N.Y.) Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on July 7, 1929, daughter of William and Elizabeth Pierce Marcel, she attended local schools.
Mrs. Pignone was a homemaker.
She was a communicant of St. Charles' Church.
Her husband, Anthony R. Pignone, whom she married Jan. 18, 1964, died July 7, 2000.
She leaves four daughters, Sandra Parreault of Fair Haven, N.Y., Mary Ellen Mechare of Middlefield, and Veglia Cudworth and Toni Marie Gage, both of Pittsfield; a son, George F. Norton Jr. of Pittsfield; four stepsons, Peter Pignone of Italy, Anthony J. Pignone of Abington, and Mark Norton and John Norton, both of Pittsfield; three stepdaughters, Denise Shogry and Donna Tibbets, both of Pittsfield, and Bonnie Norton of Vermont; two sisters, Jean Aulisio and Penney Cardonnel, both of Pittsfield; 15 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by another daughter, Betty Jean Kilfeather.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Claire I. Pignone died in Albany on Friday, July 8. The funeral will be conducted Monday, July 11, at 1 p.m. at DWYER FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor of St. Charles' Church.
Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery at a later date. Calling hours will be today, Sunday, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Pignone was predeceased by a granddaughter, Sharon Parreault Herlihy, and a brother, William L. Marcel Jr. She was the beloved godmother to Linda Mobley.
She was the center of family and friends, and her whole life was her family and friends. If friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the Elizabeth Freeman Center in care of the funeral home.
