C. Donald Mac Lean

C. Donald Mac Lean, 84, of Taconic Avenue died yesterday morning at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.
He was a former member of the Department of Public Works board and the Lenox Fire Company, and a former water commissioner.
Born in Lenox on Aug. 11, 1920, son of Charles D. and Elizabeth Elliot Chilton Mac Lean, he was a 1938 graduate of Lenox High School.
A Navy veteran of World War II, he served with the SeaBees as a demolition expert in the South Pacific and saw action in the battles of Bougainville and Guadalcanal. He received a personal citation for meritorious service in the Battle of Guam from Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz.
A plumber and heating technician, Mr. Mac Lean owned and operated Mac Lean Plumbing and Heating with his brother, J. Finlay Mac Lean of Lenox, and was active in the business until March. He also worked for the former Maskell and Lahert Plumbing and Heating Co. for many years.
He was a lifelong member of the Church on the Hill, a past trustee of the former Lenox Savings Bank and a former member of the Jiminy Peak Ski Patrol.
He enjoyed boating on the Hudson River and, with the help of his brother, built a 20-foot cabin cruiser that he used for many years.
He leaves his brother.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Charles Donald Mac Lean will be conducted Monday, July 11, 2005, at 11 at the Church on the Hill in Lenox by the Rev. David F. Hurst, pastor of Wilbraham Grace Union Church, UCC.
Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday from 3 to 5 at ROCHE FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make donations in Donald's memory to the Church on the Hill in care of the funeral home, 120 Main St., Lenox, MA 01240.
He is also survived by his loving nephews, Robert F. Mac Lean of Lenox and J. Bruce Mac Lean of Reno, Nev.
