Grace M. DeFelippo

Grace M. DeFelippo, 86, of 950 Hale St., Beverly Farms, died yesterday at Salem Hospital in Salem.

Born in Pittsfield on March 15, 1919, daughter of Agosto F. and Concetta Leone Rossi, she was a 1937 graduate of Pittsfield High School, where she was on the pro merito list.

She also graduated from the former St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing in 1940.

A registered nurse, Mrs. DeFelippo was a pediatric nurse at the former St. Luke's Hospital and Berkshire Medical Center from 1958 to 1974. She was the nursing supervisor at the baby nursery of St. Luke's from 1941 to 1946. Earlier, she had done private-duty nursing. Following World War II, she received a certificate of merit for nursing services from the government.

While in Pittsfield, she was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and a member of its Rosary Sodality.

She was a member of the St. Luke's Hospital Nurses Alumni Association and AARP. She enjoyed reading, walking and music.

Her husband, Mario J. "Johnnie" DeFelippo, whom she married Oct. 27, 1943, died May 23, 1991.

She leaves two daughters, Patricia D. Sullivan of Deerfield, N.H., and Anne Marie DeFelippo-Murphy of Beverly Farms, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Grace M. (Rossi) DeFelippo will take place Friday, July 8, 2005, at 9 a.m. from the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church by the Rev. James K. Joyce, pastor, and the Rev. Christopher Waitekus, pastor of St. Ann's Church in Lenox.

Calling hours will be Thursday, July 7, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Beloved mother of Patricia D. Sullivan and Anne Marie DeFelippo-Murphy, loving grandmother of Michael, John, Michaela, Caitlin, Desi, Eamonn; loving great-grandmother of Matthew, Claire and Emily Grace.

Also survived by a nephew, Gregg A. Voci Sr. of Pittsfield, and several other nieces and nephews. Grace was predeceased by a sister, Jennie Voci, and three brothers, Anthony, Louis and Angelo Rossi.
