Donald A. Lee

Donald A. Lee, 94, of 981 South St., a resident of Craneville Place for 14 months, died Saturday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Bethel, Conn., on March 20, 1911, son of Harry B. and Ethel Lee Lee, he was a 1928 graduate of Pittsfield High School, where he was a halfback and tackler on the varsity football team.
He attended Boston University, where he also played football.
A World War II Army veteran, he served from June 25, 1943, to Feb. 15, 1946, and was discharged with the rank of sergeant.
Mr. Lee was a superintendent at Berkshire Gas Co., retiring in 1975 with 35 years of service.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Pittsfield for 50 years and a 32nd-degree Mason, where he also was a 50-year member.
A golfer, he was a member of Berkshire Hills Country Club.
He and his wife, the former Leta L. Vandeboe, were married June 10, 1935. She died Nov. 17, 1990.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Donald A. Lee, who died Saturday, June 25, 2005, will be private and at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Lee may be made to First United Methodist Church, 55 Fenn St., Pittsfield. Mr. Lee is survived by a niece, Lee F. Rhodes of Enfield, Conn.; great-nieces and -nephews, and great-great-nieces and -nephews.
He was predeceased by a sister, Grace L. Fowler, and a niece, Linda Dubois. He took great pride in caring for his home.
