Eileen N. Cande

Eileen N. Cande, 82, of 600 Main St. died at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston on Sunday after a long illness.
Born in Lanesborough on Feb. 13, 1923, daughter of Harry J. and Lida Northup Creamer, she was a 1940 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
She lived in Dalton on Flintstone Farm for many years. She moved to Worthington in 1976 and returned to Dalton in 1987.
Mrs. Cande was employed for many years as cafeteria manager at Nessacus Middle and Center schools in Dalton, retiring in 1987.
She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Dalton and of its Couples Club, and a member of the Order of Eastern Star and the Better Breathers Club.
She enjoyed playing cards, especially cribbage and pitch.
She and her husband, Nelson Cande, would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Sept. 23.
Besides her husband, she leaves two daughters, Donna E. Donovan of Pittsfield and Christine E. Judge of Wakefield; two sons, Russell N. Cande of Victoria, Texas, and David N. Cande of Durham, N.H.; a brother, Lewis Creamer of Lanesborough; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren, and four step-great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for Mrs. Eileen N. Cande will be conducted Saturday, June 25, 2005, at 11 at Grace Episcopal Church in Dalton by the Rev. Mary Schreiber, missioner. Burial will be private in Ashuelot Cemetery in Dalton.
Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 8 at BARTLETT-WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME in Dalton. She was a special and precious wife and mother. Among survivors are her son-in-law, Bill Donovan, her daughters-in-law, Diana and Debi Cande, and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a son-in-law, John J. Judge, and a brother, Harry Creamer. If friends desire, donations are suggested to Grace Episcopal Church or to the Worthington Council on Aging, both in care of the funeral home, 525 Main St., Dalton, MA 01226.
