Evelyn T. Meledeo

Evelyn T. Meledeo, 70, of 22 Lincoln St. died Wednesday at Hillcrest Commons where she had resided since May.

Born in Pittsfield on July 7, 1934, daughter of Biagio and Palma Blasioli Meledeo, she was a 1952 graduate of Pittsfield High School.

Ms. Meledeo was employed by New England Telephone Co. for 34 years, retiring in 1986 as a clerical assistant. At the time of her death, she worked part time as a secretary at the Mount Carmel Church Rectory for 17 years.

A communicant of Mount Carmel Church, she was a member of its Ladies Guild and was very active with its bazaar, lawn parties, Twelfth Night Festivals and dinners.

She was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers, William J. Denver Chapter and TOPS Club of Pittsfield. She enjoyed bowling.

She leaves a sister, Isabelle P. Tesoniero of Pittsfield, and a brother, Arthur A. Meledeo of Skiatook, Okla. She also leaves her longtime companion, Joseph Dalo.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Evelyn T. Meledeo will take place Monday, June 20, 2005, at 9 from the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church by the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker C.S.S., pastor.

Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday, June 19, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Mount Carmel Ladies Guild will meet at the funeral home on Sunday at 6 for a prayer service.

Survivors include several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Evelyn was predeceased by five sisters, Mary Simmons, Pauline Ricchi, Lucy Asci, Josephine DiNicola and Susan Sarro, and two brothers, William Meledeo and John Meledeo.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in care of the funeral home.
