James Paul Eder

James Paul Eder, 48, of East Street died yesterday morning at home after a long battle with cancer.
Born in St. Louis on Sept. 17, 1956, son of Patricia Routman Eder and the late Ray Eder, he graduated from Ladue High School there and received a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering in 1979 from Washington University, also in St. Louis.
Mr. Eder owned Seven Hills Inn in Lenox with his wife's family from 1994 to 2004.
He moved to the Berkshires in 1984 and was employed by GE. Before that, he worked for Texas Instruments in Dallas.
He was co-president of the board of the Lenox Children's Center and volunteered with the Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic. While at Seven Hills, he hosted fund-raisers for the Children's Center, the Berkshire Humane Society, Berkshire Southern Literacy, Edith Wharton Restoration and the American Cancer Society.
He and his wife, the former Pati Flores, were married Aug. 31, 1986, in McAllen, Texas.
Besides his wife, and mother of St. Louis, he leaves two daughters, Emily Ray Eder and Eliza Claire Eder, both at home; a sister, Goldie Eder of Cambridge, and two brothers, Andrew Eder of Southport, Conn., and Elliot Eder of Vienna, Va.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for James Paul Eder will be tomorrow, June 14, at 10 at ROCHE FUNERAL HOME in Lenox, with Rabbi Douglas Heifetz of Ahavath Sholom Synagogue in Great Barrington officiating.
Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial donations to either Lenox Children's Center, HospiceCare in the Berkshires or the Lenox Middle and High School PTO, in care of the funeral home, 120 Main St., Lenox, MA 01240.
