Michael J. Spasyk, 63, of 79 Cummings Ave. died of cancer yesterday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on Jan. 12, 1942, son of Michael and Helen Ciosek Spasyk, he was a 1960 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
He served six years in the Army National Guard.
Mr. Spasyk was employed as an inspector at General Electric Co., General Dynamics and Martin Marietta for a total of 34 years, retiring in 1998.
He was a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners' clubs.
He was a communicant of St. Charles' Church and had volunteered at the former Notre Dame Church for numerous functions.
He enjoyed horse racing, fishing, hunting and traveling.
He leaves his wife, the former Nancy Pensivy, whom he married Nov. 18, 1972.
Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Katrina Anne Ouellette of Lanesborough and Clarissa Lee Spasyk of Annandale, Va.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Mr. Michael J. Spasyk died in Pittsfield on Monday, June 6, 2005. Services will be Thursday, June 9, at 9:15 a.m. from DWYER FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Charles' Church celebrated by the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow, June 8, from 4 to 7. If friends desire, donations may be made to St. Charles' Church in care of the funeral home in his memory.
Mr. Spasyk was inseparable from and incredibly devoted to his wife. They enjoyed taking trips to Hampton Beach, Fla., and Washington, D.C. A loving father to his daughters, he was known for his passion for the outdoors, his gentle demeanor and his quirky sense of humor.
Mr. Spasyk also leaves several uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.
