James McGovern

James McGovern, 68, of 128 Onota St., died Thursday at home.
Born in Pittsfield on April 27, 1937, son of Terrance and Emma Sheldon McGovern, he attended local schools.
He served in the Army National Guard.
Mr. McGovern was employed as an assembler in the power transformer department of General Electric, retiring in 1993 after 25 years of service.
He was a member of the GE Quarter-Century and Pensioners clubs.
He leaves his wife, the former Beverly J. Poulton, whom he married Feb. 20, 1960.
Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Darlene Grandbois and Wendy McGovern, both of Pittsfield; two sons, Robert A. McGovern and Brian D. McGovern, both of Pittsfield; four brothers, Charles McGovern of North Adams, Harry McGovern of the town of Florida, Terry McGovern of Savoy and William McGovern of Pittsfield; four sisters, Mildred Willis of Buffalo, N.Y., Mary Goddeau of Lanesborough, and Marilyn Pettit and Margaret Wirtes, both of Pittsfield, and eight grandchildren.
A son, James E. McGovern, died April 8, 1982.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- James McGovern died in Pittsfield on Thursday, June 2, 2005. Services will be Tuesday, June 7, at 10 a.m. at DWYER FUNERAL HOME with the Rev. Don Roach of the Calvary Fellowship Church officiating.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be at the funeral home Monday, June 6, from 5 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Beverly McGovern. Beloved grandfather to Tamera and Russell Grandbois, Robert, Derrek, Kristian and Christopher McGovern, Timothy McCracken and Justin McGovern.
Mr. McGovern will be deeply missed and was the most loved man on the planet.
