Anthony D. Hopkins

Anthony D. Hopkins, 18, of 227 Robbins Ave. died Monday at Berkshire Medical Center, the victim of a slaying.

Born in Pittsfield on Dec. 3, 1986, son of Theresa Hopkins and stepson of Jeffrey Sayers, who raised him, he attended local schools, including Taconic High School.

Mr. Hopkins was employed by ServiceMaster of the Berkshires for the past year and a half, doing disaster cleanup and restoration.

He enjoyed skateboarding, playing pool, collecting coins, fishing and listening to music.

He had played in the North Little League, hitting the winning home run in its 1999 World Series.

Besides his mother and stepfather of Pittsfield, with whom he resided, he leaves a brother, Brian Hopkins, at home; a sister, Cassandra Hopkins, at home; two stepbrothers, Brian Sayers and Matthew Sayers, both of Hinsdale; his maternal grandfather and stepgrandmother, Norman and Judy Hopkins of Pittsfield; his maternal grandmother, Rosemary Mazzeo of Pittsfield, and his maternal great-grandmother, Irene Hopkins Buck of Westfield.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The Liturgy of Christian Burial for Anthony Daryl Hopkins, who died May 30, 2005 will be celebrated Friday at 9 at St. Joseph's Church by the Rev. Michael Shershanovich, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.

Calling hours will be tomorrow, June 2, from 3 to 7 at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the Clara Barton Diabetes Camp for Girls in care of the funeral home.

He is also survived by his aunts and uncles, Dawn Hopkins and Brian Fitzgerald, Edward and Lisa Depson, Melissa and Mitch Degere, Richard and Priscilla Hopkins, and Antoinette and Chris Perry, and several other great-aunts and -uncles, and many cousins. He enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends.

He will be remembered for his kind, loving ways and his great sense of humor.
