Muriel Drew Forgey

Muriel Drew Forgey, 70, of 75 Beverly St. died Friday at home after a long battle with leukemia.

Born in Pittsfield on Aug. 12, 1934, daughter of Harry B. and Mildred Drew Thompson Estes, she attended schools in Windsor and Dalton and was a 1952 graduate of Fort Pierce (Fla.) High School.

Mrs. Forgey was employed by GE for 38 years, retiring in 1994. She worked primarily in power transformers.

Her husband, Edward R. For-gey, whom she married March 20, 1955, died March 15, 2000.

She was a member of First Congregational Church and a volunteer at its Green Gargoyle Gift and Thrift Shop.

She was also a member of the GE Quarter Century Club, the GE Athletic Association, the Thursday Night Ladies' Golf League and American Legion Auxiliary Unit 155, where she served on many committees.

She enjoyed dancing in her younger years and traveled several times cross-country.

She leaves two sons, Michael R. Forgey of Lanesboro and Charles E. Forgey III of Bennington, Vt.; two daughters, Diana D. Forgey and Barbara L. Horton, both of Pittsfield; a sister, Doris Blake of Windsor; seven grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Muriel Forgey died May 20, 2005, surrounded by her children and daughter-in-law, whose tender care helped make her last wishes come true. The funeral will be conducted Tuesday at 11 at First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, in Dalton by the Rev. Robert R. Kyte, pastor.

Burial will be in Ashuelot Cemetery in Dalton. Calling hours will be Monday from 4 to 7 at BARTLETT-WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME in Dalton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Congregational Church of Dalton or the Leukemia Foundation, both in care of the funeral home, 525 Main St., Dalton, MA 01226.

Survivors include her grandchildren, Scott, Richard, Jennifer, Justine, Dylan, Gabrielle and Angelique, and a great-granddaughter, Jasmine. She was predeceased by sisters Emma, Ida, Edna and Ruth; a brother, Irving, and a granddaughter, Mary Ann.
