Lenore Catherine Richardson, 85, of Epworth Arms, 350 West St., formerly of Lantana, Fla., died Monday morning at Providence Care Center of Lenox after a short illness.
Born in Littleton on May 24, 1919, daughter of Ralph Andrew and Serena Katherine Hall McNiff, she was a graduate of Banford Academy in Boston.
Mrs. Richardson owned and operated four beauty salons, including the first beauty salon in Winchester. After graduating from Banford Academy, she first worked for the Elizabeth Arden salons in New York City and then joined M. Louis, which hosted a number of notable clientele.
She returned to Boston and worked at Conrad's on Washington Street.
She was an active member of Epworth Arms Tenant Association.
She was an avid reader and in recent years took piano lessons. She also enjoyed alpine and water skiing. In her youth, she spent summers at Camp Wimmer in Rumney, N.H., where she was an avid swimmer, diver and equestrian.
Her former husband, George A. Richardson, died July 1994.
She leaves a daughter, Barbara J. Stringer of Pittsfield, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, three stepgreat-grandchildren and a stepgreat-great-grandchild. Another daughter, Sandra A. Koning of Wilmington, died in 2001.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Memorial Mass for Lenore Catherine Richardson will be tomorrow, Friday, May 20, at 11 at St. Charles Church, 89 Briggs Ave., celebrated by the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society in care of the DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St.
Mrs. Richardson also leaves her sons-in-law, Gerard J. Stringer of Pittsfield and Ronald Koning of Wilmington; two grandsons, Ronald Koning of Ipswich and John Koning of Laconia, N.H.; four granddaughters, Elizabeth Stringer of Boston, Jessica Farr of Pittsfield, Sally Koning of Arizona and Jennifer Hine of Wolfeboro, N.H., and her inconsolable cat, MousePad.
She was predeceased by a sister, Barbara M. Murphy of Lantana, Fla.
