Lorianne L. Grant, 43, of 370 Cloverdale St. died Tuesday evening at home of natural causes.
Born in Pittsfield on March 12, 1962, daughter of Frederick and Jan Hinckley Perkett, she was a 1980 graduate of Taconic High School.
Mrs. Grant was employed as a secretary by the city of Pittsfield in the veterans' department for nine years and, at the time of her death, in the Health Department at City Hall. Earlier, she had been a secretary for the Gingerbread and Les Poincelette Realty companies, and had worked for the Zepka and Viale florist shops. She also had helped with W.J.D. Enterprises, which coordinates home shows, and was a justice of the peace and a notary public.
She enjoyed sewing, needlepoint, cross-stitching and flower arranging, and was an accomplished crafter.
She was a published poet, an assistant Girl Scout leader, a parent volunteer with the cheerleading squad, a former member of the Polish Falcons, and a member of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary.
She and her husband, James Grant Sr., were married Dec. 12, 1992.
Besides her parents, of Pittsfield, and her husband, she leaves a daughter, Malina Rose Grant of Pittsfield; two stepsons, James Grant Jr. and Paul Grant, both of Pittsfield; a stepdaughter, Jamieann Grant of Albany, N.Y.; a brother, Frederick G. Perkett of Pittsfield, and her maternal grandmother, Jeanette Hinckley of Pittsfield.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Lorianne L. Perkett Grant died May 3, 2005. Affectionately known by her dad as "Wadgi," a wonderful mom and loving wife, she will be lovingly missed by her sister-in-law, Kathleen F. Perkett, and her dog, Willy, and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Friday, May 6, from 4 to 7 at DERY FUNERAL HOME. A Rite of Committal Service will be celebrated Wednesday, May 11, at 2 in the St. Bernard section (on top of the hill) of St. Joseph's Cemetery by the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor of St. Charles' Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to establish an education fund for her daughter, Malina Grant, in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St. Checks may be made payable to Jan Perkett, her mother.
