Elbert M. Barton, 72, of Springfield, formerly of Pittsfield, died Wednesday at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.
Born in Becket on May 2, 1932, son of William and Nettie Dearing Barton, he was a longtime Pittsfield resident before moving to Springfield 13 years ago.
He served in the Army as a medic during the Korean War.
Mr. Barton was a machinist at GE for 25 years.
He and his wife, the former Winifred Delphie, were married 13 years.
Besides his wife, he leaves two stepdaughters, Bonnie Williams and Sue Ann Fowler, both of West Springfield, and two sisters, Lucy Cuddihy and Arlene Leab, both of Pittsfield.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Elbert M. Barton will be Wednesday, May 4, at 1 at Blessed Hope Advent Christian Church, 1516 Sumner Ave., Springfield. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
There will be no calling hours. Byron Funeral Home has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
Mr. Barton also leaves several nieces and nephews.
