Bernice E. Cornelio

Bernice E. Cornelio, 84, of 329 Pittsfield Road, Devonshire Estates, formerly of 1 Scott Drive, Pittsfield, died Saturday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield after a brief illness.

Born in Haverhill, N.H., on Nov. 3, 1920, daughter of Forrest A. and Lucy Hardy Pike, she was a 1938 graduate of Haverhill Academy High School. She moved to Pittsfield in 1942.

Mrs. Cornelio was employed by Personal Moving & Storage Co. for 28 years as a bookkeeper, retiring in 1970.

She was a communicant of Mount Carmel Church and a member of the Sons of Italy Itam Lodge 564, both in Pittsfield.

She enjoyed traveling and reading.

Her husband, attorney Santino C. Cornelio, whom she married Jan. 3, 1976, died Oct. 9, 1989.

She leaves two sons, Forrest S. Manning of Peabody and Francis E. Manning of Stephentown, N.Y.; a stepdaughter, Lucille Shepard of Potomac, Md.; a sister, Grace V. Gilbert of Pittsfield; a brother, Francis A. Pike of Pittsfield; eight grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. Another stepdaughter, attorney Imelda Cornelio LaMountain, is deceased.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Bernice E. Cornelio, who died May 2, 2005, will be Wednesday, May 4, at 9 from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church by the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker, CSS, pastor.

Burial will follow in the family plot at Pittsfield Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home.
