Ruth L. Ford, 96, of 298 Jarvis Ave., Holyoke, died Wednesday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.
Born in Dalton on Jan. 11, 1909, daughter of Arthur E. and Lavina Mann Ford, she was 1927 graduate of the former Dalton High School.
She also graduated from Wheaton College in Wheaton, Ill., with a degree in education.
A teacher, she taught in Thorsby, Ala., and at Birmingham (Ala.) High School, where she taught English. She retired in 1974.
She was a member of the Dalton Congregational Church.
She leaves a brother, Ralph Ford of Lenox.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Ruth L. Ford will be Monday at 2 at the Main Street Cemetery in Dalton with the Rev. Robert R. Kyte, pastor of the Dalton Congregational Church, officiating.
There will be no calling hours. Among survivors is a niece, Susan Moriarty of Sturbridge. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the BARTLETT-WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 525 Main St., Dalton, MA 01226.
