William Boraski

April 18, 2005

Attorney William Boraski, 75, of 105 Partridge Road died Monday at Berkshire Medical Center after a long illness.

Born in Pittsfield on Dec. 12, 1929, son of Charles and Sadie Wowk Boraski, he was educated in Dalton schools, and graduated as president of his class in 1948 from the former Dalton High School.

He did his undergraduate work at Worcester Polytechnic Institute and earned his law degree in 1953 from Northeastern University School of Law. He passed the bar the same year.

Mr. Boraski formed a law partnership with John F. McLaughlin Jr. in 1976. He continued to practice at the firm until his retirement in 1988. As the business increased in size, the partnership purchased the former Condron Funeral Home at 36 Maplewood Ave. to accommodate the firm. He was formerly associated with Maurice Rosenfield for a short time before going into private practice.

He was a member of the American, Massachusetts, and Berkshire Bar associations.

He and his wife, the former Eileen Pelkey, would have celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary May 18. They were married at the Church of Regina Coeli in Hyde Park, N.Y.

Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Ted W. Boraski of Dalton; two daughters, Meta A. Quell of West Sand Lake, N.Y., and Amy E. Zaffanella of Lenox; two brothers, Nicholas Boraski of Pittsfield and Mitchell Boraski of Windermere, Fla.; a sister, Helen Fraley of Dalton, and seven grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Attorney William Boraski, 75, was called safely home on April 18, 2005. The funeral will be Thursday at 2 at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME with the Rev. Christopher J. Waitekus, pastor of St. Ann's Parish in Lenox, celebrating.

Calling hours will be today, April 20, from 5 to 7 at the funeral home. If friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society in care of the funeral home. William will be forever remembered by his grandchildren, Kristen and Brian Pekala, Rachel Quell, Tyler and Cameron Boraski, and Alessandra and Christopher Zaffanella.

He is also survived by two sons-in-law, David Quell and Carlo Zaffanella. He was predeceased by three brothers, Elek, John and Stanley Boraski.
