Francis L. Shaw, 79, of 77 Jones Ave., died yesterday morning at Hillcrest Commons in Pittsfield where he had resided for the past 10 months.
Born in Great Barrington on Feb. 25, 1926, son of Forrest L. and Frances Irene Benway Shaw, he attended local schools, including the former Searles High School.
Mr. Shaw was employed for many years as a machine tender at Kimberly-Clark Corp. in Lee, retiring in 1986.
He was an avid bowler and New York Yankees fan.
He leaves his wife, the former Pauline Root, whom he married in 1979.
Besides his wife, he leaves three sons, Robert L. Shaw of Selby, N.C., Ronald W. Shaw of Great Barrington and David Shaw of West Chester, Pa.; four daughters, Patricia A. Taylor of Jacksonville, N.C., Jane A. Archambeau of Becket, Deborah J. Spadaccini of Northampton and Francine Shaw of the state of Florida; a stepson, Anthony S. Pariselli of Lenox; two stepdaughters, Anne Marie Bartholomew of Walkersville, Md., and Paulette Halliday of Athens, Ohio; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Mr. Francis L. "Frank" Shaw of Pittsfield died April 15, 2005. A private memorial service and burial will be at the convenience of the family.
There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Berkshire Humane Society in care of ROCHE FUNERAL HOME, 120 Main St., Lenox, MA 01240, which is in charge of arrangements.
He is also survived by his beloved dog, Sasha.
