Thomas H. Mairo Sr., 67, of 176 Columbus Ave., Berkshiretown Apartments, died Sunday at home.
Born in Malden on July 24, 1937, son of Louis and Sadie Ruggles Mairo, he was a 1955 graduate of Wakefield High School.
He had resided in California before moving to Pittsfield two years ago.
Mr. Mairo was a self-employed master stone mason for more than 40 years in Massachusetts and California.
As a young man, he had played for the Boston Bruins farm team.
He also coached women's softball and was an avid golfer and a sports enthusiast.
He leaves a son, Thomas H. Mairo Jr. of Pittsfield; five daughters, Kathy Fontaine, Bonny Duclos and Teri Delude, all of Belchertown, Nancy Skochinsky of Langhorne, Pa., and Shayna Mairo of Santa Rosa, Calif.; a sister, Elsie Murphy of Cambridge, and 11 grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for Thomas H. Mairo Sr., who died April 3, 2005, will be held at the convenience of the family.
A beloved father-in-law and grandfather, he will be lovingly missed by his sons-in-laws Gerald Fontaine, David Duclos and John Delude; daughter-in-law, Deborah, and grandchildren Nathan and Alison Duclos, Sarah and Katie Delude, Nichole, Nora and Natalie Skochinsky, Cpl. Justin Mairo and Matthew, Allen and Catherine Scaccia.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
