Sandra Jean Cresswell, 56, of 379 East St., Providence Court Apartments, died Sunday at the home of her former sister-in-law, Judy Gelpi of 22 Olive St., Lee, where she had resided since January because of ill health.
Born in Albany, N.Y., on April 7, 1948, daughter of Roger W. and Doris Hood Hill Wise, she was raised in Pittsfield and graduated from Pittsfield High School.
She also attended Berkshire Community College.
Ms. Cresswell had been employed in property management for the past five years.
She had previously spent many years working as a waitress in Chicago.
A communicant of St. Joseph's Church, she enjoyed crocheting, reading and poetry.
She leaves her former husband, Allen D. Wilson of Pittsfield; two daughters, Melissa M. Gelpi of Irvine, Calif., and Cynthia Gelpi of Pittsfield; two brothers, George Hill of Pittsfield and Leon Wise of Northampton; two sisters, Barbara Webster of Phoenix and Janice Walto of Pittsfield; and six grandchildren, including Tyler Gelpi, whom she raised since birth.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Sandra J. Cresswell, who died April 3, 2005, will be held tomorrow, April 6, at 11 at DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, with the Rev. Michael Shershanovich, pastor of St. Joseph's Church, officiating.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home tomorrow from 10 until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home.
She is survived by her six adored grandchildren, Tyler Gelpi, Kyle Machado, Anthony LaFogg, Ryan Matthews, Cody Machado and Mateo Machado, and also by several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother, Richard Hill.
