C. William "Skip" Bontell, 61, of 40 Old Stockbridge Road died Sunday evening at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield after a short illness.
Born in Pittsfield on Aug. 7, 1943, son of Mary Ethier Bontell Doty of Lee and the late Louis W. Bontell, he grew up in Lenox Dale and attended schools in Lenox and St. Joseph's High School in Pittsfield.
He lived in Lenox for many years before moving to Port St. Lucie, Fla., where he resided for 10 years. He returned to Lenox in 2002.
Mr. Bontell owned and operated Empire Roofing and Chimney Service. He also did carpentry work. A heart transplant recipient in February 2001, he retired several years before that because of ill health.
He enjoyed traveling, watching live sporting events, playing cards, horse racing and animals.
He and his wife, the former Teresa Ornellas, were married Nov. 5, 1982.
Besides his wife, of Port St. Lucie, and his mother, he leaves two daughters, Amy Bontell and Jamie Bontell, both of Port St. Lucie, and three sisters, Patricia McHugh of West Palm Beach, Fla., Joan Belville of Arlington, Texas, and Barbara Allen of Pittsfield.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for C.W. "Skip" Bontell, who died March 27, 2005, will be conducted Saturday, April 2, at 11 at ROCHE FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. Christopher J. Waitekus, pastor of St. Vincent de Paul Church in Lenox Dale.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from 10 until the time of the funeral. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make contributions in Skip's memory to either HospiceCare in the Berkshires or to the Berkshire Humane Society, both in care of the funeral home, 120 Main St., Lenox, MA 01240.
