Catherine T. Derivan, 93, of Kimball Farms died Wednesday evening at its Nursing Care Center.
She had resided at Kimball Fams since 1990.
Born in Pittsfield on Feb. 9, 1911, daughter of William J. and Catherine Conry Derivan, she was a 1928 graduate of St. Joseph's High School there.
She also graduated from the former Berkshire Business College. After retirement, she spent winters in Hollywood, Fla.
After passing the Civil Service exam Miss Derivan became a secretary for the Pittsfield Public Welfare Department. She transferred to the social work division when the state took over during the Depression. She retired in 1976 after 42 years of service.
She was a communicant of St. Ann's Church. While in Pittsfield, she was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church.
She volunteered in the gift shop at The Mount and helped raise funds for the Brightside orphanage, where she was a member of its League of Charity.
She leaves several cousins and her caregiver, Mary Jane Pignatelli of Lenox.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Miss Catherine T. Derivan died in Lenox on Wednesday, March 23, 2005. She leaves several cousins, including Mary King, and her sister-in-law, Irma Derivan. A memorial service will be conducted Wednesday, March 30, at 11 at St. Ann's Church in Lenox by the Rev. Christopher J. Waitekus, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Pittsfield. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Ann's Church in care of DWYER FUNERAL HOME, Pittsfield, which is in charge of arrangements.
