Dante Botto, 90, a former longtime resident of 26 Foote Ave., died Wednesday at Berkshire Medical Center following a long illness.
He had resided at Laurel Lake Center in Lee since July 2004.
Born in Pittsfield on Dec. 1, 1914, son of Joseph and Josephine Massaro Botto, he attended local schools.
Mr. Botto had been employed by GE as a machinist in the former power transformer department for 34 years, retiring in 1974.
He was a communicant of Mount Carmel Church.
He was a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners' clubs, the GEAA, and the Pontoosuc Lake Country Club of Pittsfield. An avid golfer, he also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He and his wife of 61 years, the former Helena M. Lawor, were married Oct. 9, 1943.
Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Beverly K. Coyle of Pittsfield; two brothers, Elmo Botto of Pittsfield and Bruno Botto of Lee; a sister, Gloria Thomas of Pittsfield, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Private funeral services for Dante Botto will take place today, Friday, March 25, 2005, at the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., with the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker, pastor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, officiating.
Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Joseph's Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Survivors include a daughter, Beverly K. Coyle, and her husband, Jay B. Coyle; two grandchildren, Coreane A. Salvini and her husband, John R. Salvini, and Sean C. Coyle, and three great-grandchildren, Mitchell, Trevor and Griffen Salvini.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Lawrence Botto and Louis Botto, and two sisters, Natalie Barzottini and Olga Schnopp.
