Michaelina G. Handerek, 83, of 37 Albro St., died Wednesday morning at home.
Born in Montague on Nov. 5, 1921, daughter of Michael and Stella Aptacy Saharceski, she was a 1939 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
Mrs. Handerek was employed at Boston Auto Gage, then at the former Eaton Paper Co., retiring in April 1984.
She had also worked at one time at the former Elmvale Worsted Mill.
Her husband, Boolak M. Handerek, whom she married on April 22, 1944, died on April 22, 1988.
She was a communicant of St. Mark's Church.
She leaves a son, Michael B. Handerek of Pittsfield; a daughter, Carol A. Pane of Marshall, Texas; a brother, Michael Saharceski of Turners Falls; a sister, Dorothy Milkey of Turners Falls; three grandchildren and a great-grandson.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Mrs. Michaelina G. Handerek died in Pittsfield on Wednesday, March 16, 2005. Beloved grandmother to Stephanie and Gregory Pane and Zachary Handerek, and loving great-grandmother to Hunter Pane.
Services will be on Monday, March 21, at 10:30 from DWYER FUNERAL HOME with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 in St. Mark's Church, celebrated by the Rev. John T. Smegal, nephew of Mrs. Handerek.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be at the funeral home Monday morning from 9:30 to 10:30. Mrs. Handerek also leaves her son-in-law, Richard Pane.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Edwin and Chester Saharceski ,and a sister, Camelia Doran. If friends desire, donations may be made to Hospice Care in the Berkshires, care of the funeral home in her memory.
