John Vernon Lindy, 96, of Kings Road, Schenectady, N.Y., formerly of Pittsfield, died Saturday at Kingsway Arms Nursing Center.
Born in Stockholm, Sweden, on Jan. 17, 1909, he was brought to the United States at age 9 to live with Mr. and Mrs. Carl Peterson at Riverside Farm in Watertown, S.D.
He moved to Pittsfield in 1927.
Mr. Lindy had been employed by GE in Pittsfield in the load ratio control department until his retirement in 1977.
He was a member of Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Pittsfield and Zion Lutheran Church in Schenectady.
His wife, the former Joan Radke, whom he married in 1935 in Zion's Lutheran Church of Pittsfield, died August 2001.
He leaves his late wife's sister and brother-in-law, George and Harriet Halsey of Schenectady.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- John V. Lindy, 96, died March 12, 2005. Interment will be in Pittsfield at a later date.
