Serge Kalinowsky Sr.

Serge Kalinowsky Sr., 75, of 44 Jason St. died yesterday morning at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on April 30, 1929, son of Vasily and Anna Michaels Kalinowsky, he was educated in local schools.
He earned his general equivalency diploma while in the service.
A decorated Army veteran of the Korean War, he served with the 101st Signal Battalion as a sergeant. He was on active duty from 1951 to 1956, the served in the Army Reserve until 1962.
Mr. Kalinowsky was employed by Consolidated Freight as a truck driver for many years, retiring in 1994.
He was a member of the Sons of Italy Itam Lodge.
He enjoyed fishing, gardening and the outdoors.
He leaves his wife, the former Fay Silvano; four daughters, Renee Church, Donna Kalinowsky and Kristine Strzepa, all of Pittsfield, and Joanne Tierney of Clifton Park, N.Y., and six grandchildren. A son, Serge Kalinowsky Jr., died in 1977.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Serge Kalinowsky, age 75, was called safely home on March 12, 2005. A private family funeral will be held at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME, with the Rev. Charles Young officiating.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the Sioga Club to help restore its meeting place and to help those who are trying and all the families who will be saved by the organization.
He is also lovingly survived by his grandchildren, Sara Church, Sandi Chen, Derek Strzepa, Alex Chen, Blake Strzepa and Joy Kalinowsky.
