Ethel T. Flynn, 103, of 384 Pittsfield Road died Thursday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.
Born in Dalton on Aug. 14, 1901, daughter of John and Anna Kirchner Burgner, she was a 1917 graduate of the former Dalton High School.
Mrs. Flynn helped her husband, John, in the operation of Flynn's Tree Surgery, and after his death, helped her son in that business. In the 1940s until 1950, they owned and operated the East Lee Inn in Lee. From 1950 to 1956, they ran a guest house at Hampton Beach called The Regis. Earlier, she had worked at GE, and as a hairdresser.
After her marriage in 1925, they moved to Pittsfield and in 1930 they moved to Lenox.
She was the holder of the Boston Post Cane in Lenox.
She was a communicant of St. Ann's Church, and a member of Dalton Grange 24.
Her husband, John H. Flynn Sr., whom she married June 11, 1925, died Nov. 30, 1972.
She leaves a son, John H. Flynn Jr. of Lenox; a daughter, Carol A. Consolati of Lee, nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by another daughter, Eileen VanZandt, who died in 1969.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Mrs. Flynn was a devoted and loving grandmother to George and Michael VanZandt, Kathleen Carter, John R. Flynn, Patricia Quinn, Daniel, David, Jeffrey and Patrick Consolati, and a devoted and loving great-grandmother to her 16 great-grandchildren.
She also leaves her son-in-law, Frank, and her daughter-in-law, Mary. The funeral will be Saturday at 10:15 from the KELLY FUNERAL HOME in Lee with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Ann's Church with the Rev. Christopher J. Waitekus, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Ann's Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be today, Friday, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations to HospiceCare in the Berkshires or the Lee Regional Visiting Nurses Association in care of the funeral home.
