John Joseph Heidenry

John Joseph Heidenry, 96, of Sugar Hill, 45 Main St., died yesterday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.
He had resided at Sugar Hill for two years. Before that, he had been a 93-year resident of St. Louis.
Born in St. Louis on March 27, 1908, son of James H. and Catherine E. Reidy Heidenry, he attended schools there.
He also attended Kenrick Priory and Kenrick Seminary, both in Missouri.
Mr. Heidenry was employed as a manager of B. Herder Book Co. bookstore in St. Louis for 25 years, retiring in 1976.
He was a communicant of St. Agnes' Church and enjoyed reading and playing horseshoes.
His wife, the former Margaret A. Morrison, whom he married in June 1938, died in January 1960.
He leaves a daughter, Carolyn G. Sharp of the town of Washington; two sons, John M. "Jack" Heidenry of New York and Dr. Robert J. Heidenry of Chicago; nine grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by another son, Richard Heidenry, in 1977.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for John J. Heidenry, who died March 7, 2005, will be Friday, March 11, at 9:30 from DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, 890 East Main St., Dalton, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Agnes' Church celebrated by the Rev. Gary Dailey.
Burial will be in the spring in North Becket Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home on Friday from 8:30 to 9:30.
He is also survived by four close friends, Joseph Conrad, Evelyn Waugh, Flannery O'Connor and Ross Lockridge.
