Adelaide DeAlmeida, 90, of 224 Fourth St. died Wednesday at Laurel Lake Center for Health and Rehabilitation in Lee, following a short illness.
She had resided there since October 2004.
Born in Pittsfield on April 29, 1914, daughter of Jose and Beatris Pacheco Cardoso, she moved to Portugal at age 5 and was educated there.
She returned to Pittsfield in 1944.
Mr. DeAlmeida had been employed as a seamstress at the former Stratton Coat Factory for 20 years, retiring when the company ceased operations.
She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church.
Her husband, Jose R. DeAlmeida, died Aug. 7, 1978.
She leaves a sister, Alice Alvaro of Pittsfield, eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sons, Albert M. DeAlmeida and Saul M. DeAlmeida.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Adelaide (Cardoso) DeAlmeida will take place Saturday, March 5, 2005, at 8:30 from the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 at St. Mary the Morning Star Church, 653 Tyler St., with the Rev. Paul A. Bombardier, pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be today, Friday, from 4 to 6 at the funeral home.
